Shillong,March 17: Police have recovered a ‘mummified head’ with long hair from Nongthymmai area.
The East Khasi Hills SP MG Raghavendra Kumar said on Friday that the recovery was on Thursday from the road side on the way from IIM Nongthymmai towards Madanriting( in picture).
He said though the labourers were working in the area for a few days , they noticed it only on Thursday.
According to the police, expert opinion was sought to know more details about the head.
“It appears to be a mummified head with skin and long hair”, the SP said.
According to the SP, though the long hair may indicate female head, even males do have long hair and hence no inference can be made.
Only scientific tests can ascertain the nature of the recovered object, he added.
Police are also examining the list of missing persons.
