Shillong, Sept 22: Police have registered a case of unnatural death (UD) following the recovery of body of a Laban resident.
48-year-old Saumitra Chakraborty was found dead in Umiam on September 21 after he went missing on September 19.

“The body was handed over to the relatives on completion of the post mortem examination at NEIGRIHMS and the viscera was taken for forensic examination. In this connection a UD case has been registered vide Umiam PS UD case No. 28/2024 dated 21/09/2024″, police said.
Police expect to get the post mortem report within a week.
To a question, Ri Bhoi SP Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said, ‘Will collect evidence and convert it in case it points to murder, we will also record statements and seize CCTV”,
