Shillong, Jan 5: Police are gathering information to verify reports about the death of two workers following a blast to extract coal somewhere in Jaintia Hills.
The court-appointed committee headed by retired justice BP Katakey has sought a report regarding the matter.

Two videos circulated on social media show many workers with burn injuries.
Police are examining the videos, though the social media mentioned that the incident was in Thangsko (Mynsngat), East Jaintia Hills, on December 23.
While one injured worker died on December 23, another, identified as Ashok Tamang from Lad Rymbai, died in Shillong Civil Hospital on January 1.
