
Shillong, April 11: There are at least six BJP members, who are keen to contest the vacant Shillong Lok Sabha seat.
The death of VPP leader Ricky Syngkon necessitated the bypoll.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, BJP chief spokesperson M Kharkrang said the party is eager to contest the election.
“As a party, we would like to contest all the elections. In fact, in the earlier elections, 2009 and 2024, we were ready to contest but got direction to support our partners.”
Kharkrang said the party has multiple aspirants and is awaiting a decision from the central leadership.
“We had almost around 5-6 aspiring candidates, and we hope that the central leadership takes a decision that we should contest the election,” he added.
