Shillong, Aug 22: Several pressure groups representing people residing in disputed Assam-Meghalaya border areas protested on Monday demanding review of first phase of border deal at Shillong Civil Hospital point.
They pointed out that Meghalaya gave away precious land to Assam and the deal is against the interest of the border residents.
The protest assumes significance as the chief ministers of both Assam and Meghalaya started to discuss on Sunday the second phase of six border areas to be resolved.
The pressure groups include Achik Democracy for Empowerment (ADE), Achik Youth Welfare Organisation (AYO), Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) ,Federation of Achik Freedom (FAF), Garo Students Union (GSU), West Khasi Hills Students Union( WKSU) and Joint Action Committee on Border of Meghalaya ( JACBoM)
