Shillong, Oct 9: Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Home (Police), Prestone Tynsong, has assured the arrest of the perpetrators involved in the murder of the Nongrah boy.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the murder of the victim.
“Let me tell you one thing that very soon we will be able to nab the culprits and reach the conclusion of these criminal activities that have happened,” he said.
The body of the seven-year-old Kyrshanbor Kharmudai, who had gone missing from his residence at Nongrah on Wednesday evening, was recovered from Mawpat on Thursday morning.
“The post-mortem report is awaited, but preliminary indications suggest that it is a murder case,” Tynsong said.
When asked, the deputy chief minister said, “You cannot just blame the government. For any issue, so many people blame the government.”
He stressed the importance of taking care of children and being aware of their surroundings to prevent such incidents.
“I personally feel that we also need to give a proper education to the parents who need to take care of their kids. So from the police side, we are trying our best to make sure that the safety of the citizens of the state is always there, but as criminal activities happen, I think you cannot say the lapses happened just because of the police force”, he said.
