Shillong, Aug 3: The Environment Coordination Committee and the villagers from the Elaka Sutnga, East Jaintia Hills carried out a protest march to DC’s office on Tuesday demanding closure of 45 coke factories under Sutnga Elaka.
According to the organisers, the Deputy Commissioner promised to close down all the illegal coke factories starting from Wednesday.

The DC asked the traditional heads and members of Elaka Sutnga to work together with the administration in dealing with the coke factories.
