
Shillong, Feb 6: Governor Vijayashankar has expressed surprise over people getting tuberculosis despite having pure air, water and organic food, in the state.
He was speaking on the matter on Thursday after signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Raj Bhavan, and North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) for providing nutritional support to 250 persons with Tuberculosis undergoing treatment in Meghalaya.
While interacting with state officials who are dealing with the matter, the governor wanted a study on the cause of tuberculosis in the state.
NEEPCO director Major General Rajesh Kumar Jha said the move is aimed at supporting the goverment in its drive against tuberculosis thanks to the initiative of the governor.
