Shillong, April 26: Famed photographer Raghu Rai (83), who passed away on Sunday(April 26), had visited the city in 2015 to be the guest for a photo exhibition.
Rai was a special invitee for the first Shillong International Photo Festival held in November 2015, initiated by the Mass Media Department, St Anthony’s College, Shillong.
“He had praised Shillong and its people as being different from others”, recollected Cherry Kharshiing, who is the Head of Mass Media Department, St Anthony’s College.
“He did not exhibit his works as the exhibition was of others, but he enjoyed the initiative”, Kharshiing said on Sunday.
According to Kharshiing, the veteran photographer was simple and down to earth and interaction with him was lively.
Vikramjit Kakati posted a photo in 2015 regarding Padma Shri Raghu Rai and Fr. John D Jayakumar admiring photographs at the Shillong International Photo Festival.
