Sinha said during his Rajya Sabha tenure in the last three years he had raised the issue of illegal mining of coal and stones that are destroying the state a dozen times.

He added that if anyone destroys the culture, the state will be destroyed.

“If you destroy environment and ecology of the place, Meghalaya will be destroyed. Meghalaya’s beauty is in its culture and nature,” he added.

The Rajya member said his purpose is to create awareness among the people and among outsiders who are tourists that they should come here to enrich the place and not to weaken it.
