The defence minister was addressing election campaigns of Y Khemchand, Speaker at Singjamei and Karam Shyam, BJP candidate for Langthabal at Langthabal on Monday. Singh said he was happy to see the traditions of supporters of a candidate bringing food, vegetables, sweets as a sign of support.

“The whole world now respects India and we are showing the world that we can strike anywhere even beyond our territory to those who attack our country,” he added.

Good governance and development were seen after the arrival of the BJP-led government, Singh said.

The defence minister said he wants Manipur and the north east to be developed as a tourist hub of the country.

Speaker Y Khemchand said the BJP won just 21 seats in the last elections and had to take support from other political parties. It was difficult to run a government with so many coalition partners so getting an absolute majority is a must to provide good administration, he added.
