Relatives want postmortem of Manjunatha

Shillong, Oct 10:The relatives of the state government official Manjunatha C, who passed away on Tuesday, want post mortem to be carried out to ascertain the cause of his death.

An official said that this was communicated by the family.

After Manjunatha,who was the secretary to animal husbandry and veterinary department, left the main secretariat on Tuesday afternoon to his official residence at Forest Colony, he felt uneasiness following which he was taken to Woodland Hospital where the doctors declared that he is no more.

A state government official said though all the formalities were carried out at Woodland Hospital, based on the request of the family members, postmortem will be done at Shillong Civil Hospital on Wednesday.

Manjunatha was staying alone as his wife, who is in his native place in Karnataka, had to attend to their three-month old baby.

Earlier, he was relieved of his post as secretary, forest and environment department besides the task of chairman of Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma condoled the death of the officer.

“We are pained by the untimely passing of one of our officers, Shri C. Manjunathan, IFS. Manju was a quiet and efficient officer with exemplary commitment to every Department he handled and took on every task with a smile. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace”, Conrad tweeted..
