Rs 50 lakh earmarked for police buildings in each district: Prestone
Shillong, Feb 23: Rs 50 lakh has been earmarked for each district of the state for renovation of dilapidated buildings of police quarters and barrack.
This was informed by Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Roads & Buildings, Prestone Tynsong on Friday in the Assembly.
After the Congress legislator from Gambegre Saleng A Sangma raised the issue, Tynsong said, “We are identifying the dilapidated buildings. In this current financial year, the state government has earmarked Rs 50 lakh to each district to meet these challenges”.
“I assure this House that we will further strengthen and make sure place of police personnel is up to the standard,” he said.
Tynsong said during the current year quite a number of reformation has taken place in the police.
“After identifying and realising that this is need of the hour, we have created a separate engineering wing, which is now fully operationalised,” he said.
