Rymbui unveils 10-feet-tall statue of Ambedkar at USTM
Shillong, Sept 21: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Monday unveiled a 10-feet-tall statue of Dr B R Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian constitution, at the campus of the University of Science and Technology.
Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM, Prof G.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of USTM, Dr PR Swarup, Director General, Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC) and other dignitaries as well as the teachers and student community of the university.
After unveiling the statue in front of the University School of Law and Research at USTM, Rymbui said, “This statue will remind us of the unity in diversity in India as Ambedkar has taught us the values of equality, inclusion which he enshrined in the Constitution of India.”
Hoque said Ambedkar gave justice to all weaker sections by providing affirmative action in the constitution and showed the people the path towards equality.
Rymbui, along with other dignitaries paid floral tributes to the statue.
