Sensex up by 111, Nifty gains 22

Mumbai, May 24 (UNI): The BSE Sensex on Monday surged 111.42 points to 50,651.90 following gains in oil and gas, realty, utilities and power stocks.

Nifty too gained 22.40 points to 15,197.70.

The day opened on a strong note as BSE Sensex gained 187 points to 50,727.28. During the day, it surged 317 points to 50,857.59, the day’s high, before closing at 50,651.90, up by 111.40 points from its previous close.

Meanwhile, it slipped 75 points to 50,465.90, the day’s low.

Sensex registered days high and low at 50,857.59 and 50,465.90 points, respectively.

Nifty recorded days high and low at 15,256.25 and 15,145.45 points, respectively.

The sectoral indices like oil and gas, realty, utilities, capital goods and power kept the market strong for another session on Monday.

In scrips, a top gainer was SBI up by 2.73% followed by L& T, Axis Bank, Powergrid and ITC were moved up by more than 1%.

The mid cap was up by 0.86% and small cap by 0.70%.

In 30 scrips, 15 advanced, 14 declined while one remained unchanged.
