Shah for lightning warning 36 hrs in advance
Shillong, July 24: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that there should be coordination between disaster management and North East Space Application Centre (NESAC), Umiam which can provide warning of lightning about 36 hours in advance.
He laid the foundation stone for the multipurpose convention centre and exhibition facility cum museum of the NESAC in Umiam.
He wanted the use of NESAC for flood management in the Northeastern states in the NESAC meeting held in January and during the meeting on Saturday, he was told that drafts of 110 projects have been prepared in this regard.
Shah also directed to store water in big ponds to make Northeast flood free.
He said with the coordination of MHA and NESAC, a single window system will be made so that the states can get real time information about floods and other disasters.
He said in the days to come, there should be coordination to reduce disaster risk to zero.
