Shillong Civil Hospital to get six oxygen generators

Shillong, May 13: Six units of oxygen generators will be set up in Shillong Civil Hospital to address the shortage.

“Currently, the oxygen supply is manageable. We will be setting up oxygen generators in Shillong Civil Hospital latest by next week”, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Thursday.

He said the intention is to provide sufficient supply and the surplus oxygen from the hospital will be distributed across the state.

“The oxygen generators for Tura, Jowai and Nongpoh are already on the way. Within a week, the generators will reach. We will install them in the first week of June”, he added.

Cluster isolation centres

Last year, the state had set up community or cluster isolation centres.

The government will revive such isolation centres in all the districts and upto the community level. The matter is being communicated to all the DCs, BDOs and Dorbar, he said.

These centres will cater to the needs of positive patients who are asymptomatic or who are in category A or B, Tynsong said, adding that these patients can be kept in isolation centres and they don’t need hospitalisation.
