Shillong Manipuri body condemns aerial attack on Meiteis

Shillong, Sept 15: Manipuri Elders Consortium Shillong(MECS) on Sunday staged a sit-in against recent aerial attack on Meiteis.
The venue of the protest was at Manipuri Rajbari in Shillong where the Manipuri King signed merger document with India on September 21,1949.
President of MECS Munish Singh stressed the need of ending atrocities against Meiteis in Manipur who are the target of immigrants and those who promote narco-terrorism.
He has decided to petition the Centre and the Manipur goverment to ensure peace and harmony in Manipur.
Pebam Rocky, the public relations officer of MECS, referred to the attack on the residence of his great grandfather and former Chief Minister in Manipur that led to the death of a civilian and injury to many others.
The secretary of MECS, SL.Thounaojam recalled the sufferings by the women and students due to the unrest in Manipur and sought the immediate intervention of the Centre and the Manipur government.
