Shillong, April 29: The Shillong Traffic Police has collected Rs 6,78,000 as fine for 684 violations for one week.
In a statement issued on Monday, East Khasi Hills SP Rituraj Ravi said from April 22 to 28, Shillong Traffic Police conducted a special checking drive to ensure safety on the roads and to deter the violators. “During this period, a total of 684 violations were detected including the violations such as driving under the influence of alcohol, modified exhaust pipes etc and fine amount of Rs. 6,78,000/- was realised”, the SP said.
The Shillong Traffic Police has urged the citizens to drive carefully and follow the rules. “Such special drives shall be conducted regularly in addition to regular checking in the interest of safety on the roads”, the SP added.
