Shillong,July 25: The BJP MLA Sanbor Shullai concluded the financial distribution programme on Sunday at Anjalee parking area for the residents of Shillong Cantonment.
The financial distribution programme ws provided to the vulnerable sections of people, including taxi drivers, teer counter employees, the disabled, daily wage employees working in various shops affected by the pandemic, domestic workers and hawkers of 19th South Shillong Constituency.
The help was from the Special Urban Works Programme (SUWP) Scheme 2021-2022 and also from the one-year salary of the MLA.
The MLA and MCIC 19th South Shillong Constituency in collaboration with Dorbar Shnong, Village Council, welfare societies and CCMTs of the constituency has provided financial assistance of Rs 2000 each to 5000 beneficiaries from fourteen localities of the constituency.
Shullai said he is committed to continuously assist the vulnerable poor of the constituency, who has been directly or indirectly affected by the lockdown due to Covid-19.
