Shillong, July 9: The state government has entrusted a single member commission to probe the alleged rice scam.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma told reporters that he has issued an order to constitute a single-member independent inquiry committee to examine the quality of rice and food products handled by social welfare department which was raised by different quarters.

“The chief secretary has been asked to find out names of retired Judges of High Court so that we can select a one member committee,” he said.
The panel will be given three months’ time to complete the inquiry.
