
Shillong, July 10: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman opened a commercial complex at Polo, here on Thursday .
She was accompanied by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, Chief Secretary DP Wahlang and other government officials.
The project executed under Smart Cities Mission is the first shopping mall of Shillong owned by the government.
The foundation stone of the project was laid on October 28, 2020 and it was completed in December 2024.
Executed at a project cost of Rs 100.33 crore (inclusive of GST) at an area of 1.26 acres with built-up area of about 1.70 lakh sq ft., the complex consists of 109 shops, ranging from 4470.40 sq ft to 396 sq ft.
The complex comprises 8 offices ranging from 8050 sq ft to 830 sq ft.
Other features include car parking area for 86 four-wheelers, 50 two-wheelers.
There are five lifts,12 escalators, five emergency exits, sewage treatment plant of 75 kilo litre capacity, water treatment plant, 110 CCTV cameras and facilities for rainwater harvesting and roof-top solar system.
