Personnel of a BSF mobile check post, deployed near National Highway in Sonapur, had asked the truck driver to stop. However, instead of complying with the order, the driver accelerated the vehicle and fled towards the Umkiang bordering area, the BSF said.

“The BSF promptly pursued the truck and found it parked near the petrol pump in Umkiang but the driver managed to escape. Upon searching the vehicle, the BSF team found 9 horses that were intended to be smuggled into Bangladesh. The seized horses and the truck were handed over to the local police for further legal action”, the BSF said.
