Shillong, July 2: Social welfare department has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the suicide case of a POCSO victim at the government-run shelter home for girls in Mawdiangdiang, on June 21.
The department wanted a magisterial probe and hence wrote to the concerned authority in this regard, an official said.

The 16-year-old girl was lodged at the shelter home after the incident of sexual assault by her uncle in November last year.
Following this, a case was registered at Mawngap police station leading to his arrest.
The accused is in judicial custody after the case was chargesheeted.
The victim was initially handed over to the child welfare committee which in turn lodged her at the shelter home.
