Shillong, Aug 24: The rider of the scooty involved in injuring the St Edmund’s student, who was crossing the road at Laitumkrah on Thursday, was arrested by the police while the victim was shifted to GNRC Guwahati.
Police said Edmund Marpan (17) of Mawlai Nongkwar, a class XI of St Edmund’s School, sustained grievous injury when a speedy scooty with a pillion rider dashed the student.
The scooty(Yamaha Aerox A/F) was ridden by Eukratis Mylliempdah of Motinagar, a student of Shillong Commerce College BA 1st semester and the pillion rider was Biswajit Das of Nongthymmai Jellyshop, a student of Shillong College B.Com 1st semester.
According to the police, the incident took place around 10.55 am near Don Bosco Technical School due to rash and negligent driving.
The victim was immediately shifted to Woodland Hospital in a local taxi.The rider and pillion rider were also sent for medical examination to the same hospital as they also sustained injuries. Later the pedestrian was admitted in the hospital as he got a fracture on the right leg and injury on the head. His family shifted him to GNRC Guwahati where his condition is stable.
“We have registered a case and the rider of the scooty was arrested”, the police added.
