State award for Mawphlang green activist
Shillong, June 3: Environmentalist Tambor Lyngdoh on Friday received the Meghalaya Excellence Award at a function at Golflinks in the city.
Lyngdoh received the award for his immense contributions to the conservation of forests and green activism.

“We are working with 85 villages in East Khasi Hills, 40 villages and private owners in Ri Bhoi district and 8 Villages in CC Pur District with Kuki Community,” he said about his conservation works.
Lyngdoh is leading the country’s first UN REDD+ project in East Khasi Hills to reduce emissions from deforestation and has played a crucial role in preserving the Mawphlang Sacred Grove.
