WHO gives 150 oxygen concentrators to state

Shillong, May 22: The state government has received 150 oxygen concentrators from the World Health Organisation on Saturday . The concentrators are currently being stored at the NHM State Warehouse at Lawmali.

Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had also announced the arrival of oxygen plant at RP Chest  Hospital.

Earlier on Friday, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War had told reporters that as many as six oxygen generation plants will be set up in the state.

Out of the six,  the plants to be set up  at Shillong civil hospital, Ganesh Das hospital and RP Chest TB hospital were sanctioned from the PM Cares fund.

The state on Saturday recorded 1123 new Covid-19 cases and the deaths  were 21.

19 Covid patients died in East Khasi Hills and two in West Jaintia Hills.

With this, the total active cases stand at 7,454. The new recoveries are 509.

After East Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, West Jaintia Hills and West Garo Hills have more cases and hence total curfew was imposed in these districts.
