Cycle ride & selfie stands generate interest

Shillong, July  22: Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh took a cycle ride from the main secretariat to Khyndailad  and opened the selfie stand of the Meghalaya State Olympic Association (MSOA) and Department of Sports & Youth Affairs.

The selfie stand was to encourage the citizens to join the country in ” I #Cheer4India”  and its 127 indian Olympic athletes competing among the best in 18 disciplines and to allow youths, athletes, citizens of Meghalaya to express their support for the @WeAreTeamIndia through the selfie stands.

The MSOA working president John F Kharshiing, general secretary Chiranjib Choudhury and officials of the Meghalaya State Cycle Association, Director, Sports & Youth Affairs WAM Booth were also present.

Lyngdoh said the selfie stand was put up as a mark to support the team India so that they can bring medals for the nation.

According to Kharshiing, India is a young country but expectations are high.

“We hope they will bring medals for the country and this will inspire our children to aspire to become Olympians,” he said. Later, the minister  inaugurated another selfie stand prepared by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs at the JN Stadium. He also distributed prizes to the winners of the quiz.

The MSOA has announced a lottery with a cash prize for the three winners and requested the citizens to send their selfie pictures taken at the selfie stand to Whatsapp mobile number 7005304227.
