Shillong, July 29: The rugged landscape of South West Khasi Hills may one day find its way to the tourism map of Meghalaya with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma promising to help develop the rock garden at Jashiar in the district.
PHE Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar said on Thursday the village employment councils requested Sangma to sanction fund for tree plantation and development of the rock garden.
Tongkhar, who is also the MLA of Mawkyrwat, accompanied Sangma to the district on Wednesday.
To a query, Tongkhar said the rock garden project would cost around Rs 50 lakh.
“The chief minister has assured to send experts from the Tourism Department to prepare the estimates,” the minister said, adding that Sangma appreciated the village councils for constructing a footbridge on the Rilang river.
