State to review bond policy to retain doctors

Shillong,July 9: The state government will review the bond policy so that the doctors who availed the goverment quota can come back and serve in the state.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh spoke to reporters about MBBS seats on Tuesday after meeting a delegation of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), who wanted   transparency in the allotment of medical seats under the state quota.
She said the departments of personnel and law will be consulted if there is any confusion while releasing the names of candidates for medical seats.
Medical colleges
The minister informed that the National Medical Commission (NMC) will visit the state as the goverment is ready to operationalise a government medical college and a private medical college.
Lyngdoh said, “We have progressed substantially. In fact, the medical authority of India has been apprised of the fact that Meghalaya is now ready to at least operationalise one government medical college and one private medical college.”
