State to set up three corona care centres, more markets

Shillong, May 25: The state government has decided to set up three corona care centres and more temporary wholesale and retail markets in East Khasi Hills district.

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters on Tuesday that the corona care centres will come up at ITI, Rynjah, Basic Training Centre, Malki and  Directorate  of Commerce and Industries ,Nongrim Hills.

Temporary markets

Tynsong said more temporary markets will be set up at 5th Mile, 7th Mile,

Mawkasiang Football Field, Urkaliar parking lot, Shilliang-Um, Lawmei, Mawryngkneng- Sohryngkham- Smit, Lawlai Marbisu and Laitkor for the benefit of the farmers and consumers.

Tynsong said the government has identified another location at ISBT, Mawiong and this will be approved after due consultations.

Car passes

He also informed that since the district administration is busy with other works,  car passes  for farming activities will be taken care of by the agriculture department.

The director of the department, district agriculture officer and district horticulture officer will handle the matter and the status of the passes issued will be intimated to the deputy commissioner.
