Shillong, Jan 27: A student who took to YouTube to demand a change in job reservation policy has said she has nothing against Garos but only wants equitable distribution of reservation for Khasi-Jantia community.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Bari Pyngrope (in picture), who posted three videos in this regard, said that there is a need to change the reservation policy.
Pyngrope from Umpling is a student of MSc from Allahabad University.
She said with the population growth, Khasi-Jantia together getting 40 per cent reservation is not acceptable as Garos alone have 40 per cent reservation.
She has annouced a signature campaign on January 29 at 11 am at Mawkhar Taxi Stand in this regard.
To a question, Pyngrope said there should be separate reservation for Khasis, Jaintias and Garos.
The current reservation policy is 40 per cent for Khasi-Jantia, 40 per cent for Garo , 5 per cent for other tribes and 15 per cent for general category.
