
Shillong, Aug 15: Many students who took part in the parade collapsed during the Independence Day speech of Chief Minister Conrad Sangma at Polo Ground on Tuesday
The chief minister spoke almost for an hour .

The students were at the ground from 7 am and refreshment for them was arranged only after the programme.
An NCC cadet and a BSF jawan who were also part of the contingent came out as they were not feeling well.
Many Indian red-cross society volunteers and teachers were seen providing water to the contingents.
“More than 15 collapsed and we had to move them in stretchers, we found some students were doing practice from 6 am” an Indian red cross volunteer said.
