Baby Rani Maurya, who resigned as the governor of Uttarakhand, was appointed as a national vice president of the party as well.

Majumdar was elected to the Lok Sabha from Balurghat, West Bengal in the 2019 general elections. The announcement was made by BJP president JP Nadda.

The move came months after the West Bengal assembly polls where BJP faced defeat, even as party leader Suvendu Adhikari managed to defeat Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram.

The Trinamool Congress won 213 seats, while BJP won 77.
