Shillong, June 6: SwitchON Foundation has organised Mission Life Awareness Programme to promote sustainable agriculture at the community hall in Rngikseh Village, Mawthadraishan, West Khasi Hills district.
It aims to raise awareness among farmers and the community about the importance of adopting sustainable practices to mitigate the effects of climate change and conserve natural resources.
The event witnessed the presence of guests, farmers, including DDM NABARD who emphasised the significance of small measures and actions at both the individual and community levels in reducing the impacts of climate change.
Farmers were sensitised about key topics such as energy and water conservation, avoiding single-use plastic, adopting sustainable agriculture practices, waste and e-waste management, and embracing a healthy lifestyle. The topics of awareness also included agriculture for sustainable development, global environmental changes and plant resource utilisation.
Vinay Jaju, MD, SwitchON Foundation said, “At SwitchON Foundation, we believe that collective action is the key to addressing the challenges of climate change and environmental degradation. Through initiatives like Mission LiFE, we aim to empower individuals and communities to become agents of change and adopt sustainable practices.“

Representative from Ka Thup ki Nongrep FPO Cooperative Society Limited Farmers Producer Company Limited said, “We are happy to attend the Mission Life awareness programme organised by SwitchON Foundation. It has opened our eyes to the importance of protecting our environment and preserving our natural resources. We are committed to implementing sustainable practices in our farming and daily lives.”
During the event, an environment protection oath was administered to all participants, encouraging them to take an active role in the campaign and implement sustainable practices in their daily lives.
