Shillong, April 27: Syngkhong Rympei Thymmai, a group propagating patriliny in matrilineal Meghalaya, criticised the stand of KHADC to deny ST certificates to the offsprings of those who adopt father’s surname.
The chief executive member of KHADC, T Chyne recently made a statement on the need to deny the ST certificates.
However, the functionaries of Syngkhong Rympei Thymmai, addressing a press conference on Thursday said the social welfare department has clear order regarding the matter as the government has not deprived the benefits.
The DC’s office should comply with the order otherwise , it will lead to complications”, they said.
“We will be compelled to seek legal recourse if we are denied our rights”, said the leaders of Syngkhong Rympei Thymmai.
