Three held for diesel theft in Ri Bhoi

Shillong, May 1: Police arrested three persons in connection with theft of diesel in Ri Bhoi.
The accused are Refer Marsing of Mawtari Thaiang village, Robren Langi and Rishad Sylliang both of Umkra village.
In a statement , Ri Bhoi SP Vivekanand Singh Rathore said on Thursday around 3 am, a car was intercepted at Patharkhmah PWD junction, and six plastic jerry cans filled with aroundĀ 220-230 litres of diesel.
The fuel was allegedly stolen from three nearby Reliance Jio mobile towers in Jirang village. Three occupants of the vehicle admitted to the theft and have been arrested.
They are suspected to be involved in earlier theft cases from various mobile towers in the district.
The whole organised gang and receivers of stolen property are being identified, and strict action will be taken against them, the SP said, while thankingĀ the good Samaritans for timely information which enabled the Patharkhmah PS team to mount a quick response.
