Shillong, July 25: Three persons, including two juveniles, were arrested by the police for their involvement in assaulting a mother-son duo at Mahadevkhola.
The accused had attacked and robbed a shop owner and her son at Mahadevkhola, on Monday afternoon.
East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger told reporters on Tuesday that out of the three accused, two are juveniles.
The police ruled out any communal angle in the incident.
One of the accused had came to the shop and asked for an Amul Kool drink. He had also told the shop owner that he would pay her later.
However, when asked for money, he threw a coconut at her. After her 21-year-old son intervened, a scuffle took place following which the accused brought some more persons with him and attacked the woman and her son, stole money from the shop and ran away.
