Shillong, July 21: Meghalaya TMC MLA George Lyngdoh has written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, seeking his immediate intervention for disbursing pending salaries of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers in Meghalaya.
In the letter, Lyngdoh said the teachers are yet to get the salary for five months since the ministry of education is withholding the SSA funds.
“I want to understand the reason why the ministry is upholding the funds”, he said.
More than 20,000 families are affected due to the delay as it has brought hardships. The teachers have to borrow money from their relatives and friends to travel to reach schools, he said.
The teachers are on indefinite strike from July 18
