Toycathon event concludes in NEHU

Shillong, June 26: A valedictory function was held in NEHU after the culmination of Toycathon hosted by the University on Saturday.

The event saw the participation of 11 teams from different tracks.

NEHU being nodal centre, hosted the power judging for track 3 round for another 7 teams.

The programme was held using the virtual mode

NEHU has been selected by MIC/AICTE for hosting Toycathon 2021 Grand Finale, an event conducted by the Centre to promote indigenous toy industry under the vision of AatmNirbhar Bharat.

Stressing upon Modi’s ‘Vocal for Local’ in Toy Industry, Ministry of Education mooted the idea of multi-track nation-wide inter-ministerial toycathon, a mega event of its kind for the first time under the Hackathon mission. Modi interacted online with a few teams of Toycathon 2021 on June 22 and motivated them with his additional ideas and other inputs.

The inter-ministerial Toycathon focused on conceptualizing new and innovative toys using local materials which are economical, affordable, safe, environment friendly, with exceptional high quality for both Indian and global markets, and also promoting Indian culture, history and ethos through toy and gaming tools, in digital as well as physical modes.

Out of the total teams participated, 117 teams were declared winners of Toycathon 2021 (Digital Edition), with 3 teams emerging winners from the Nodal Centre NEHU too.

The valedictory function was graced by Ajay Singh Rajawat, Software Developer, Hackathons & IPR, MoE, Govt of India.

The CEO of Incubation Centre, NEHU, Prof. DeveshWalia appreciated the  event and termed this as a learning experience while working with the innovators from the other parts of the country. Dr.Aseem Sinha, the Deputy CEO of Incubation Centre, NEH also spoke.
