Ahead of the Assembly polls due early next year, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb quit the post on Saturday.
Sources said the Central BJP wanted to ensure the victory of the party in the state and hence the party wanted a replacement due to anti-incumbency factor.

“There is a need to keep the BJP in power for a long time in the state in” Biplab told reporters.
