UDP wants on camera interview, state university
Shillong, May 14: The UDP youth wing wanted on camera interview for various government posts and setting up of state’s own university.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting of the youth wing on Saturday, the new president of youth wing, Manbhalang Syiemlieh said that there is a need for the introduction of an on camera interview for job recruitment.
“We have resolved that through our ministers as well as MLAs to make sure that the government will take serious steps to introduce on camera interview during job recruitment,” Syiemlieh said.
The introduction of the on camera interview will go a long way in restoring the faith and confidence of the people in the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) and the District Selection Committees (DSCs).
On CUET exemption, Syiemlieh said the government should clarify as to how long the exemption will continue.
“I don’t know whether this exemption will be only for this year or it will continue and in such a situation, a state university can really help the state’s students. Especially, given the fact that there is just one university in the state catering to everyone now”, he said.
The youth wing has also decided to seek more clarity from the state government on whether the exemption granted by the Centre from CUET will continue in the years to come.
Unemployment
The UDP also asked the government to come up with programmes that will address the growing unemployment problems faced by both educated and uneducated youth of the state as the government jobs are limited.
He also urged the government to open up opportunities for young and talented youths of the state instead of depending on the workforce from outside the state.
Poll preparation
The youth wing has resolved to strengthen its circles in the seven constituencies falling under Shillong city as part of preparing the party for the upcoming 2023 Assembly polls.
