Shillong, June 13: A two-day national workshop in preparation to the G20 Janbhagidari events on “The Implementation of NEP 2020 with Special Emphasis on the Foundational Literacy & Numeracy under NIPUN – Meghalaya” sponsored by the state Directorate of Elementary and School Literacy, was inaugurated on Tuesday.
The workshop was organised by the IQAC & Departments of History and English, Sankardev College, Shillong in collaboration with Samagra SHIKSHA Abhiyan- State Education Mission Authority of Meghalaya, Education Department.
Cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh graced the inauguration programme as the chief guest. Dr. Eureka F. P. Lyngdoh, Principal of the College delivered the welcome address, Dr. Rapmebantei Kharkongor, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Convenor, gave an introduction on theme of the workshop and Manbor S. Warjri, IQAC coordinator, proposed the vote of thanks. Others present at the programme were principals of colleges and schools and participating teachers from about 100 schools from all districts of Meghalaya.
The purpose of the workshop was to create a forum of key stakeholders to discuss the various challenges and opportunities on the implementation of NEP 2020 at the foundational stage.
Prominent scholars invited as resource persons for the workshop include Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Head, Department of Education, Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Odisha, Prof. C. Nongbri, Department of Education, NEHU, Shillong, Dr. (Mrs.) Balaiada R. Dkhar, Professor in Education and Dean(R), Department of Extension Education, NERIE NCERT, Shillong, Dr. (Mrs.) Bahunlang Tron, Assistant Professor, CTE (PGT), Shillong, Prof. Sandhya Sahoo, Professor of English, Head, DESSH, & Dean (I) Regional Institute of Education, NCERT, Bhubaneswar, Prof. Nityananda Pradhan, Professor of Education, Department of Education, NERIE NCERT, Shillong, Dr. Prachi Ghildyal, Assistant Professor of Psychology, Department of Education, NERIE NCERT, Shillong and Dr. W. Nikhla, Associate Professor, DIET, Nongstoin.
