Shillong, May 4: After a COVID positive person roamed around in two villages, the East Khasi Hills district administration has declared the hamlets Wahshnong and Nongshiliang of Jongksha village under Mawkynrew C&RD Block as containment areas.
In a statement, the government said that based on the report received from the Block Development Officer, Mawkynrew C&RD Block and the Medical Officer in charge of Jongksha PHC that a COVID-19 positive person was found mingling around Wahshnong and Nongshiliang Hamlet of Jongksha village under Mawkynrew C&RD Block and has come in contact with a large number of people, without taking any precaution even after being advised to isolate as per the protocols of the government and hence these two villages were declared as containment zones in order to facilitate contact tracing, isolation and testing of the high risk contacts.
The order said that no person is allowed to move into the containment area and inhabitants within the area shall not move out, all the inhabitants within the containment area shall strictly remain inside their homes and all shops, establishments shall remain closed during containment.
