Shillong, Oct 24:Two drug peddlers, including a woman, were arrested on Friday.
According to the police, source information was received by the ANTF Meghalaya about suspected drug peddlers, who are travelling from Silchar to Shillong with contraband.
Based on the information, a check was conducted at Sohryngkham on the early morning hours of October 24, and a vehicle (AS 11 EC 3733) was detained at Sohryngkham.
Two persons travelling in the vehicle, namely Suma (42) and Sultan Mahammad Mazumder (35)-both from Silchar (Assam)-were apprehended, and from their possession, 4 soap boxes filled with suspected contraband heroin with a net weight of 54.13 grams were recovered and seized.
Later, the seized contraband and the accused persons were handed over to Officer-in-Charge Sohryngkham.
An FIR in this regard was filed by ANTF Meghalaya at the Sohryngkham outpost for further action.
