Shillong, Nov 24: The central team probing the NEHU affairs arrived here on Sunday.
The team will visit NEHU on Monday.
The members of the fact-finding team are Prof.DP Singh, former Chairman of UGC and Prof Dilip Chandra Nath, former Vice-Chancellor of Assam University.
The Centre had on November 15 issued the order stating that the team will have to complete the probe within 15 days.
The terms of reference of the committee include controversial appointments, declining university rankings, infrastructural neglect, and non-responsiveness of the VC on various demands.
Earlier on November 22, the High Court of Meghalaya heard the matter and fixed it on December 6 for hearing.
The division bench comprising Chief Justice IP Mukerji and Judge B Bhattacharjee noted that it would be fit and proper for the court to wait for the report of the probe committee, its recommendations and any “corrective actions” if any that may be recommended by the committee and taken by the University.
