Shillong, Feb 8: Nominations of two candidates in Khliehriat were found invalid after the scrutiny on Wednesday.
Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Kharkongor said that the details are not available but they appear to be dummy candidates.
Phulbari incident
Kharkongor said a review meeting was held and necessary steps were taken to prevent any further pre-poll violence in the area.
There are charges and counter charges and even the election authorities have also filed a case.
He said efforts are on to arrest the trouble mongers following the clash involving both the NPP and the AITC.
VPP symbol issue
According to the CEO, communication was between the VPP and the Election Commission of India and hence he cannot comment on the status of symbol allotment to VPP .
