U-17 Meghalaya FC secure third place at Indo-French tournament

CM congratulates boys of Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School

Shillong, April 2: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has congratulated the boys of Myngken Christian Higher Secondary School, Ri Bhoi representing Meghalaya FC for winning 3rd place at the 2nd edition of Indo-French Tournament in Paris, France.

“The team was runner-up at the Subroto Cup and competed at the global field with sheer passion and determination. Congratulations to these talented young boys and their coach. This is a beautiful story of how small town boys with big ambitions can create magic everywhere they go! Keep it up, boys!”, the CM said.

The U-17 team participated at the Indo-French Football Tournament held from March 25 to 29 in Paris, France.

The team earned their spot in this prestigious international tournament through their outstanding performance as runner-up in the Subroto Cup 2024. Their journey to the final included dominant victories, notably a 23-0 win against Daman & Diu and a 7-0 semifinal triumph, culminating in a thrilling penalty shootout (4-3) against Manipur in the final.

Prior to their Paris campaign, the team underwent intensive training under Bobby L. Nongbet, Head Coach (AFC A License), Kitborlang Kharlukhi, Coach andCarmelius Ramshon, Manager.

The 16-member squad, fully sponsored by the Meghalaya goverment  competed against top French clubs namely FC Versailles who came in first place, Sarcelles FC remained confined to second Place, Meghalaya FC clinched the 3rd spot and Grigny FC came in fourth.
