U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy: Meghalaya defeated by J&K

Shillong, Oct 28: Jammu and Kashmir defeated Meghalaya by 131 runs on the third day of their U-23 men’s Col CK Nayudu Trophy Elite Group match in Jammu on Tuesday.

Set a target of 293 for victory, Meghalaya were all out in their second innings for 161.
As many as eight batters got into double figures, but none could push on for a big enough score to challenge the home team.
Md Ashif Khan was the top scorer with an entertaining 34 from 35 deliveries, which included six fours. He and Avinash Rai (24 from 30, 5x4s) did well to put on 51 for the third wicket before the latter was dismissed. Wickets kept falling after that, but a late cameo from No. 11 PM Santhosh made sure that Meghalaya went out with a bang. The tailender smacked 24 not out from just 11 balls, with two fours and two sixes over long-on and mid-wicket.
J&K’s Vishal Kumar was the top-performing bowler, with figures of 5/34.
To recap, J&K made 207 all out in their first innings before dismissing Meghalaya for 107. The hosts were then out for 192 in their second innings by stumps yesterday.
The Meghalaya team will now return home for their next match, which will be against Goa at the MCA Ground here from November 2.
