Udita Goswami recollects Shillong connection
Bollywood dominates Day-I of Me-gong Festival
Tura, Nov 30: Actress -turned- DJ Udita Goswami, who was at the Me-gong Festival at Baljek Airport , West Garo Hills on November 29 spoke about her Shillong and Khasi connections.
Monika Giri, the mother of Udita, is from Lower Mawprem locality of Shillong.
“My mother is from Lower Mawprem, we have a house there but it is closed right now , I have a lot of find memories of Shillong , I do meet my relatives . For me every summer vacation means to come to Shillong and I used to frequent Shillong Peak, Elephant Falls, Police Bazar and other areas. I used to make people in the North India aware that Shillong is Scotland of India.
When asked about her Khasi connection, Udita said, “I know a lot of curse words in Khasi. but I will not say that ..my mother knows Khasi .Half of my cousins are Marbaniangs . I have a lot of Nepali, Christan connections too”.
‘Might consider a fim offer’
After acting in several movies, Udita has not returned to acting after her marriage with Mohit Suri.
When asked about return to movies, Udita said, “I am married now, yes there are a lot of offers to return to movies.,passion is always there to do movies ,though currently I am known as DJ and music producer but there is an amazing officer I might consider that”.
Earlier in the evening, despite the presence of local bands- Haystack Ladies and Da Suraka- Dr Palash Sen of Euphoria band and Gajendra Verma enthralled the audience more than them with their Bollywood numbers.
Me-gong Festival is named after the white flower seen in November & December months in Garo Hills.
